NEWS: ExCeL further strengthens stronghold on London's MICE sector with waterfront venue

The international convention and exhibition centre continues to dominate the London events scene with a new sizeable restaurant offering in one of the capital's trendiest neighbourhoods.

Following last month's acquisition of London's Business Design Centre (BDC), ExCeL London has announced a brand new property - Waterfront Street Kitchen & Bar - positioned in a prime location in London's Immerse LDN, the new entertainment district within the Royal Docks.

The announcement is the latest coup in ExCeL's strategic investment in the UK’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector.

Promising a 'relaxed, all-day dining experience' the mammoth 7,696 sqft space was created in collaboration with ExCel's strategic food and beverage partner, Levy, and its design and build arm, Benchmark.

They promise Waterfront has been designed to be fully adaptable 'to be subdivided into areas for private events, corporate hospitality, and after-hours functions, offering another dimension to event organisers and exhibitors.'

Excel’s Chief Commercial Officer, Simon Mills said: 'We are thrilled to introduce the Waterfront Street Kitchen & Bar, a vibrant addition to our Excel Waterfront offering. When we launched Immerse LDN, we recognised the potential in our under-utilised space and saw an opportunity to further enhance our campus offering.'

Somewhat ambitiously, Mills hopes ExCeL will become 'the best event destination in the world' and stated 'this new space was created to not only serve our immersive entertainment visitors but also to better cater to our core business of exhibitions and conferences ... it provides the perfect setting for colleagues to connect or for larger parties or hospitality events for organisers and exhibitors alike.'

Kevin Watson, Levy Business Director, commented: 'This magnificent 400-cover space showcases our commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences with a contemporary menu inspired by bold street food flavours.'

Over recent years, Excel has seen significant investment by owners ADNEC Group and Modon Holding in its facilities and is currently embarking on an additional 25,000 sqm expansion programme.

In October 2024 ExCeL announced it had completed the acquisition of BDCG Holdings, the owning entity of the Business Design Centre (BDC) in London. The historic Grade II-listed BDC located in Islington offers 6,000 sqm of event and conference space along with 12,500 sqm of office and showroom facilities.
